Why CosmoBloc will never be a subscription
01The trigger
I never wanted to pay every month for a workout app.
It's always the same story. You're offered a free app. You get into it, you log your workouts for weeks, you build up your history. And the day you really want to see your progress, the app changes its tune: to keep going, you have to pay. Every month.
“I felt like I'd been had.”
You give your time and your sweat, and your own progress becomes a way to make you pay.
02What I did
So I built the app I wish I'd found.
On my own, for months. I started with one simple question: what do I actually need between two sets? Log fast, find what I lifted last time, see if I'm making progress. Nothing else should get in the way.
So I made choices free apps don't make. No account to create. Everything works offline, even in the back of the gym. And every number the app calculates for you is only a suggestion: it's a logbook, not a coach deciding for you.
An app built this way can't live off ads or a subscription without betraying the reason I made it. That left one honest way to sell it.
03What you pay
The app, once. That's it.
- Everything is in it from day one: no stripped-down free version, no features to unlock, nothing to buy inside the app.
- There will be updates: not every month, but when they're ready. They're included at no extra cost.
- Your workouts, your meals and your records stay on your phone: nobody can take them back.
